18 Apr Revitalising with rich colours

Here in the Southern Hemisphere we’re reluctantly welcoming in Autumn and Winter, with which comes cold weather, dark and gloomy skies, and decor that can look a bit drab.
However, introducing rich, warm tones such as reds, blues, yellows and greens, is sure to dress up your space, making it feel cosy and inviting

The colours above: burgundy red, mustard yellow, navy blue and forest green, are all rich, earthly colours that make a space look warm, inviting and purposeful. These colours ground a space and are a real design feature, and have been popular trends within both the home decorating and fashion industries.

The great thing about incorporating such rich colours is that they are essentially staple, timeless colours. They can always be switched around and brought back in with the rise of different trends, as demonstrated below.

Forest Green
Use this colour for libraries, conservatories, bedrooms or spaces you want to have a more natural feel.
Also use for incorporating trends such as: Velvet, Suede, Gold decor, dark wood grains.

Navy Blue
This colour works great in living rooms, guest bedrooms and costal spaces- it brings a sense of the beach and the ocean indoors.
Also use for incorporating trends such as: Wicker, Natural Gemstones, Gold decor, Nautical/costal, stripes, velvet, circular elements.

Burgundy Red
Use in bedrooms, media rooms, walk-in-wardrobes and home offices. Great for creating a darker, more mysterious space. This colour works well for creating a professional space, or a feminine bedroom for those who don’t want to incorporate pinks and creams.
Also use for incorporating trends such as: Classy christmas tones/holiday decor, satins and silks, velvets, furs, and lighter tone woods.

Mustard Yellow

bedrooms.
Yellow is great tone to make a space brighter, and can bring personality into a more industrial space. It also works to dress up a child’s room and makes an space more playful and cheery.
Also use for incorporating trends such as: Navy blue and mustard yellow combo, pom-poms, furs, mid-century modern style/ 70’s style, industrial style.
