About This Project

A kitchen redesign project for Nelson located clients. The project involved creating a family friendly space with practicality and style, featuring client requests such as subway tiles, copper pendants and a white tone palette.

The space presented a few initial challenges including the layout of the kitchen area and limited space to introduce a new kitchen and dining area. The completed presentation also features all of the clients requests including a laundry, wine fridge,  butlers pantry, and a large bi-fold slider window, allowing them to maximise their outdoor entertaining area and really increase their indoor/outdoor flow.

To incorporate a modern kitchen style with the existing villa style of the house we  worked to incorporate the subway tiles on the floor and have them blend into the existing remu flooring of the kitchen, which matched the rest of the house. The laundry was moved into an adjoining tiled area, allowing easy clean up and access. The butlers pantry allows much food storage, storage for entertaining wares, and a second sink for out the way clean up. There are also many drawer spaces in the main kitchen area to allow for quick storage solutions.

The floating dining table allows easy access, as well as a place for the children to sit and do their homework, and for the family to eat together-this was particularly important to the clients as the kitchen was a main hub of their home. We have introduced a variety of wood grains and colours and flooring materials. This allowed us to create a space that stood apart from the rest, and was a real design feature. However the space was still very calm, grounded and wash;t hugely overwhelming in the small space with lots of bright colours and textures introduced.
