Welcoming Watercolour

Welcoming Watercolour

Whether it be stationary, wall art or even clothing, water colour is everywhere lately-and home ware is no exception.

From a gentle obre effect to full on swirls and splotches of colour and marbling, there are some really beautiful ways to introduce watercolour into your home. The great thing about watercolour is that it introduces colour in a subtle way, with delicate hues and subtle pattern-making it really easy to create a light and airy feeling space.

Wall colour

A gentle ombre or bold splashes of colour

If painting your wall is too much to you, why not try a new bed spread, cushions or a delicate piece of wall art-you can always try your hand at a gentle tie-die or DIY watercolour (if painting isn’t your forte why not try the shaving cream method, as shown here: Shaving cream marbling)

Bed spreads and accessories

A few cushions, throws or fabrics are a great way to bring a trend into a space without a large commitment to changing up a space. They can easily be swapped out, moved around or brought in to another complimentary colour palette or trend.

Homewares

The kitchen is a place often easily forgotten when it comes to colour, pattern and specialised homewares. It’s easy to stick to plain whites and basic crockery and utensils, however there has been a big jump in kitchenwares in introducing more personal and specialised pieces, such as those shown above. Watercolour plates, ombre cutlery and DIY tie die tea towels are a great way to make your next dinner party stand out, are an easy accessory for a DIY wedding, or just a way to make you love your kitchen space that much more. Remember, while a space is about practicality, it can be beautiful as well.
